Bamboo takes four times as much CO2 out of the atmosphere as any tree. Bamboo is a member of the grass family. It can grow 12 inches in one day .Fibers from bamboo are very strong. If we started growing bamboo and using the fiber to make paper, paper bags, and other paper products we would take large amounts of carbon out of the atmosphere and save trees. We would have stronger paper products that are also biodegradeable.
