BiographyDerek Byerlee is a member of the Science Council of the CGIAR and a consultant and advisor to a number of international organizations. Formerly, he was rural strategy advisor of the World Bank and codirector of the 2008 World Development Report, Agriculture for Development. Before joining the World Bank, he was director of economics at the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center, Mexico, and associate professor at Michigan State University.
