Prime Minister of Bhutan
The Honorable Lyonchhen Jigmi Y. Thinley is the first democratically elected prime minister of Bhutan. Prior to his election in 2008 he served as minister for Foreign Affairs and minister for Home and Cultural Affairs. He also served as prime minister from 1998 through 1999 and again from 2003 through 2004. The Honorable Y. Thinley is presently chairman of the National Environment Commission and the Ugyen Wangchuck Institute of Conservation and Environment.
