Diane Elliott Gayer is a licensed architect practicing community-based architecture and planning, ecological design at both rural and urban scales since 1979. Her particular focus is grassroots and hands-on engagement in design process while interweaving her teaching, travel, and professional work.
Ms. Gayer’s is director of the Vermont Design Institute (VDI), a non-profit community design and resource center based in Burlington, Vermont; an adjunct associate professor at the University of Vermont where she also teaches design studios for the Green Design minor and the Certificate of Graduate Study of Ecological Design; and faculty at Yestermorrow Design/Build School in Warren, Vermont.
