Sierra Crane-Murdoch is a freelance writer based in the Virginia coalfields. She is a recipient of the Middlebury Fellowship in Environmental Journalism, for reporting on Appalachian coal miners fighting mountaintop removal, and the Brower Youth Award, for coordinating the Power Past Coal project.
