Abdon Schmitt F. is an agroecologist and professor at University of Santa Catarina–UFSC, Brazil. His teaching and research efforts focus on designing agroecological systems that interconnect ecosystem restoration, rural livelihoods, and renewable agriculture in southern Brazil. He is coordinator of the Voisin Silvopastoral Group, a participatory action research project that has worked with more than 622 farmers to make the transition from conventional farming to pasture-based and silvopastoral systems.
