Carl N. McDaniel is Visiting Professor at Oberlin College and Professor Emeritus at RPI. For three decades he researched insect and then plant development before focusing on the interface between biology and economics. He has published numerous scientific papers and four books. Most recently: At the Mercy of Nature: Shackleton’s Endurance Saga Gives Promise for Our Future (Sigel Press, 2014).
