Herb E. Smith makes films in Whitesburg, Kentucky. His films explore cultural, social, and economic issues of the Appalachian region. Smith’s films and videotapes have been shown throughout the country, including the Museum of Modern Art and the Kennedy Center and internationally in Paris, Berlin, Rome, Calcutta, Bombay, Chengdu, and Jogakarta.
