J. Joseph Speidel is professor at the University of California, San Francisco Bixby Center for Global Reproductive Health. He holds degrees from Harvard College, Medical School, and School of Public Health. Previously he served as director of the USAID Office of Population, president of Population Action International, and director of the Hewlett Foundation’s population program
