Biography
Michael received a M.S. Degree in Environmental Biology from the University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD), and a Ph.D. in Environmental Science with a certificate in Ecological Economics from the University of Maryland. He is currently an Assistant Professor at UMD, and directs the Environment and Sustainability undergraduate degree program. He also directs the Center for Sustainable Community Development (CSCD). Michael’s research and teaching interests are aimed at renewable energy systems and sustainable food systems. In the past 10 years he has received over US $2.5 million in grant funds to support research and community project work at the CSCD.
